• Sea Turtles at Melbourne Beach

Experience Floridian Wildlife

The Melbourne, Florida beachfront is home to one of Mother Nature's most unique experiences: every year hundreds of Loggerhead Sea Turtles make their way on to our beaches to lay their eggs. These turtles are an endangered species and are protected by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.

Here at the Crowne Plaza Melbourne - Oceanfront, we take pride in the fact that we play host to these wonderful creatures. During the peak Turtle nesting season, from May until October, the town of Melbourne has a strict "no lights" policy. Artificial lighting can distract and confuse the Turtles, who navigate to their nesting area by moonlight. We are proud to announce that the Crowne Plaza has the only Turtle-Safe Lights on Melbourne beach, meaning that our restaurant and outdoor areas can remain open all year round, even during peak nesting season!

Our Melbourne, Florida hotel on the beach can be the perfect venue for a unique experience with nature. For more information about our Sea Turtles or to even schedule a "Turtle Walk" at our oceanfront Florida hotel, please visit
